Esperance Western Australia - Book LaunchThe memory of Twilight Beach in Esperance will stay with me forever. Launching Gecko Girl there only adds to the emotion of enjoying one of Australia’s prettiest beaches. My regular question to fellow travellers is, ‘What’s your favourite place in Australia?’ Without exception, Esperance is first or mentioned in the top few. Often when we are looking forward to something with that kind of expectation, the reality can be a disappointment. However, not in this case.
A relaxed, friendly and well equipped town, Esperance is alive with activity. It has a major port, shopping centres, beautiful parks with cushion green grass and several beaches worth photographing. Summoning the courage to step out of the internal boundaries placed on myself, the location was too good to be missed. I committed! Posted the promo video and lined up two amazing supporters. Lyn, my incredibly unfailing mother-in-law and the unsung hero of many talents David Kowalski. Both agreed to be a part of my latest wild idea. What happens when you launch your first book? It’s so thrilling to complete a story, work on it during many re-writes and then push it out into the big scary world like a child leaving home. Of course, I’m scared. Hope it does well. Feel it is a part of me, Ready for your judgements. The highlight of the day was found in the first waking moment. Whispers drew me out of a dream where Hugh Jackman was begging me to let him star in my collaborate musical with David Aynsley. We had already cast the principal of the school as the lead. I’m stirred awake so poor Hugh Jackman will just have to wait for my answer! Shara whispers as she crouches next to my head, ‘Today you get to launch your book mummy.’ The pride and excitement in her voice melted my heart as I realised the impact of being an example to her of chasing your dreams. I was so stuck for so long. Knowing potential, dreams and even hard work don’t count until you’re able to break out of the limits you and others confine yourself to. All the best to YOU in breaking free in 2018. http://www.australia.com/en/places/perth-and-surrounds/5-reasons-to-visit-esperance.html
